In 2024 The Fort Pierce Art Club invited the community families to join us as we honored and told of the many contributions Edwin Binney, of Binney & Smith, CRAYOLA, made to our community with art and history along with Edwin Binney's wife naming Indrio Rd, where their homestead still exists, combining the 'Ind' from Indian and 'Rio' for River.
There was an Edwin Binney Look-A-Like Contest with the judging being done by the children. Numerous CRAYOLA activities for both children and adults were available for participants.
Special guests included Edwin Binney’s family and representatives from Corporate CRAYOLA attending and getting to know our wonderful town.
The History of Edwin Binney in St. Lucie County was presented. Edwin Binney and his family contributed to this county in ways that continue to this day, but his name has been forgotten. The legacy of Crayola(r) has made a positive impact on children worldwide and Fort Pierce and St Lucie County can be proud to have Edwin Binney honored as an important historical figure.
Check back for the 2025 event and come learn about the Man of Color, Edwin Binney, creator of CRAYOLA(r), who helped create a beautiful Fort Pierce and happy children worldwide.
